Driver seriously injured in accident on A66
A 66-year-old was seriously injured in an accident involving several vehicles last night. According to the police, he was on the A66 towards Wiesbaden when he reached 9 p.m Hofheim-Diedenbergen (Main-Taunus) was hit by a 19-year-old’s car. The 66-year-old’s car then skidded and was braked roughly by a concrete wall on the left-hand side of the road. As a result, a 57-year-old driver overlooked the accident and was unable to avoid parts of the car on the road in time. However, nothing happened to her and the 19-year-old.
When the accident was recorded, the 19-year-old stated that he had not caused the accident, but had been overtaken and grazed by an SUV on the right. The driver fled the scene of the accident. According to the police, there are “considerable doubts” about this statement, since the 19-year-old had drunk alcohol before driving and the traces at the scene of the accident would not indicate another car involved. The police are looking for witnesses and the investigation is ongoing. The A66 was briefly closed during the rescue.
