The A27 from Gorinchem to Breda has been closed between Hank and Keizersveerbrug since Tuesday morning for seven hours after an accident in which several cars were involved. Rijkswaterstaat fears that the road will remain closed until noon, due to a police investigation.
“A van was completely destroyed at the front and two other damaged cars were standing meters away,” said a passer-by early in the morning. “Many emergency services were present and around 7:30 am a trauma helicopter landed on the road.” A second air ambulance landed a little later.
detour
The closure caused about twelve kilometers of traffic jams from Noordeloos. By eleven o’clock the traffic jam length had decreased to ten kilometers and the delay had decreased from one hour to fifteen minutes.
A barrier had been erected after a few hours so that traffic that had become trapped behind the accident could be safely redirected.
Also accident on A59
Other traffic on the A27 was initially advised to drive via Den Bosch and Waalwijk and to follow the A15, A2 and A59.
But an accident also happened on the A59 shortly afterwards, near Waalwijk. This caused significant delays in both directions. On the road from the Zonzeel junction to Den Bosch, the delay between Dussen and Waalwijk-Oost was 45 minutes. The other way you were in a traffic jam for half an hour.
The detour was then adjusted and traffic was advised to drive via Dordrecht and to take the A15 and A16.
