Highway A2 will be closed until four o’clock on Thursday afternoon from the Leenderheide junction, Rijkswaterstaat reports. Two trucks collided there on Thursday morning in the direction of Eindhoven. The driver of one of the trucks was severely trapped in the cab, which overturned due to the impact. After he was freed, he was treated on the spot by a trauma team.
The accident happened just before half past nine near the High Tech Campus. The truck would have driven at full speed on the truck in front of him. The force of that blow would have ripped his cab completely off the truck.
The driver of the other truck was checked by paramedics. According to a 112 correspondent he would suffer from his neck, but was approachable.
A witness was driving on the parallel track next to the two trucks at the time of the accident. “I saw how the front truck slowed down a bit. The other one didn’t and drove in full. You saw that cabin completely collapse and a huge black cloud of smoke rises. The first thing I thought was: it won’t survive.”

The ANWB advises traffic to use the parallel lane. As a result, you have to take extra travel time into account. This increases quickly and is now about forty minutes. The ANWB expects to be able to reopen the road at 4 p.m. for the time being.
