The A1 motorway between Kootwijk and Hoenderloo will be closed in both directions throughout the weekend due to the demolition of a viaduct. Traffic between Amersfoort and Apeldoorn must take a detour via the A30, A12 and A50. As a result, people are traveling up to 20 minutes longer.
The Hoog Burel viaduct near Apeldoorn is replaced because it is over fifty years old and has concrete damage on the underside. For some time, therefore, the traffic of heavy goods has not been authorized to transit on the viaduct.
The works are expected to end on Monday morning at 5 am and the A1 will reopen. The new viaduct should be ready by 1 March.
