At 6:30 am, the zoo’s security services observed the lions in an area adjacent to its main exhibit, which launched the safety protocol to resolve the incident, the zoo reported in a statement.
“The zoo has strict safety protocols for such an incident and immediate measures have been taken. We periodically conduct drills to make sure we are prepared,” detailed the company that operates the enclosure.
“All the zoo staff acted quickly and the procedures and processes were followed as they should have been. As a result, the situation was under control within minutes,” he added, ensuring that all people and animals are safe. .
Notably, four of the lions quietly returned to their lairs while one cub was reassured “safely”. “The cub is now awake and fine,” confirmed the zoo.
It is currently unknown how the lions were able to leave their main exhibit, which is why the zoo has opened an investigation.
