San Pedro del Pinatar has been the scene of the gala for the election of the representative of the Region of Murcia in the Miss Curvys International pageant, to be held in November in Granada. The winner was Carolina García, a young woman from El Albujón, in Cartagena. The purpose of the contest is “to break stereotypes and vindicate the woman who wears more than one size 42,” they indicated from the Pinatarense Council.

The box office of the contest was destined to the Pink Flamenco Association, made up of women who have overcome breast cancer, adds the City Council.

In addition to García, other women were awarded: Estrella Amador won the Miss Sympathy Band and second finalist; Alba del Campo, Miss Fotogenia; Carmen Vallés, first finalist. As for the winner, they also gave her the bands Miss Smile and Miss Catwalk. On November 6, in the Granada town of Motril, girls from the rest of Spain will be measured to try to bring the crown to the Murcian community.

“I am very happy and very proud of myself, yesterday I spent all day watching the video in which they named me Miss Curvy”, confesses the winner, in a telephone conversation with LA OPINIÓN.

It is the first time that Carolina García entered a contest. It all started when “I was having breakfast with some friends, I had seen ads for curvy girls internationally, and I was playing the joke about why I couldn’t be a cover girl,” she recalls.

“A young woman who was nearby told me that there were things about curvy photography on Facebook, so I started researching and came across Miss Curvy’s page. From there it all started ”, he says.

The mother of a four-year-old boy, Carolina García now lives between “my contracts and my photo sessions with professional photographers”, although she is clear that “I am not a model, I am Miss Curvy.”

Before being Miss “I was a waitress, I have been in the union since I was very little”, although, with the arrival of the coronavirus, she was left without a job. So “I dedicated my time to my son, but I can’t wait for the bar to feed me and I started doing my makeup: that’s where I discovered what I really like, when I was 30 years old.”

García has taken “an official pedicure and manicure course” to do nails in a professional way and, in the San Pedro contest, “I was the makeup artist of my classmates in the contest.” “They are already beautiful and they were very beautiful thanks to me,” she says proudly.
