Eya Guezguez, a 17-year-old Tunisian Olympian, died tragically on Sunday. The young yachtswoman died while training at sea when a boat capsized with her and her sister Sara.
The tragedy happened during the training of the Tunisian national team. It was Eya and her twin Sara who competed together at the Tokyo Olympics, where they placed 21st in the 49er FX class. Sara survived the accident.
Tunisian journalist Souhail Khmira was the first to report on the accident. “Eya Guezguez, a Tunisian Olympic yachtsman, died in a training accident. Let him rest in peace,“he wrote on his twitter.

Guezguez condolences have flooded the social network since the sad news was published. “That’s terrible news. Eyo, your death was a dagger that pierced my heart. Rest in peace, buddy. You will be among us forever,“one of her friends wrote.
