Riga, Dec. 8, LETA. A young man was killed on Tuesday night in Dobele while sharing alcohol, Dace Kalniņa, a representative of the Zemgale Regional Office of the State Police, informed LETA.
After midnight, police officers from the Dobele district, in response to a call for a domestic conflict, went to an apartment building, where the corpse of a man born in 1999 with a door wound in the neck was found in the yard of the house. A man born in 1986 was detained by law enforcement officers at the scene.
During the operative and investigative activities, it was established that another man born in 1986 was present at the incident. He was detained by police a few hours later.
The detainees were also found to be intoxicated during the investigation, with 1.59 and 2.54 ppm in their exhalation. Both men have previously come to the attention of the police for various property crimes.
At present, law enforcement officers are explaining the motives of the crime, expert examinations have been ordered and criminal proceedings have been initiated by the police in accordance with Article 116 of the Criminal Law on intentional unlawful killing of another person – murder. Such a crime can be punished by life imprisonment or imprisonment for a term of five to 20 years and probation supervision for a term of up to three years.
On Wednesday, December 9, it will be decided to recognize both persons as suspects and to apply security measures.
It has already been reported that a man was fatally stabbed in Jelgava last weekend during a domestic conflict. During the night from Friday to Saturday in the Jelgava district, information was received that the corpse of a man born in 1978 with a door wound had been found in an apartment.
In the course of operative and investigative activities, a man born in 1960, who had previously come to the attention of the police for committing various types of criminal offenses, was arrested at the crime scene on suspicion of committing murder on the same day. According to the information available to the police, a domestic conflict arose between the men, during which one of the men stabbed the other with a knife and died at the scene from the injuries sustained.
On Sunday, the detainee was remanded in custody. Police officers explain the motives of the crime, expert examinations have been ordered.
