Stoyan started getting to know China in 2014, when he was accepted to the “Chinese Studies” major at Sofia University. His interest in this eastern country intensified during the one-year language study in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Stoyan then pursued a master’s degree at Ningbo University.
“During my studies at Ningbo University, I actively participated in cultural and international exchange to improve my professional level,” he explains, adding that he participated as a presenter and translator in a number of events between Bulgaria and China related to personal exchange. as well as in the sphere of economy and trade.
Stoyan was also chosen as a goodwill ambassador in promoting Ningbo abroad as well as Zhejiang poetry and painting, telling about China’s development from his perspective.
While studying in China, he witnessed the rapid development of the country. “I have been to Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Xiamen, Lanzhou and many other Chinese cities and I see with my own eyes the vitality they have, which makes me love China more and more,” he explains.
Stoyan sees opportunities for his future career development, especially in the field of cultural exchange among young people.
Since 2014, the city of Ningbo actively participates in the cooperation between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and organizes a number of events related to innovations in trade and investment cooperation and cultural exchange. Such are, for example, the “China-CEE” exhibition and the creation of a Demonstration Zone for economic and trade cooperation. “Ningbo paved a specific path for cooperation between China and CEE”, the young Bulgarian is convinced. “I see opportunities for my professional development in this. As a Bulgarian, I am happy about the continuous strengthening of cooperation between Bulgaria and China in recent years.”
Bulgarian cosmetics, rose tea and many other specific products… these days Stoyan presents Bulgarian products to Chinese consumers through live online broadcasts. He also strives to popularize Bulgarian culture and customs among the Chinese. “You show great interest in the rose bush in Bulgaria, in how the Bulgarians welcome guests, for example with bread and salt. I am very glad that you want them to learn more about my homeland,” says Stoyan in one of his live broadcasts.
In fact, these topics of interest to the Chinese are among the main things Stoyan emphasizes. He learns that Ningbo is striving to become a center of personal exchange between China and CEE countries. “I hope to show Bulgaria’s magnificent culture and contribute to cultural exchange and mutual experience sharing.” Stoyan is full of expectations and as a young innovator in China, he surely has a bright future ahead of him.
