A year ago, Ischgl turned from a party mecca to a corona hotspot

Today Ischgl is a vacationer-free zone

Safety concepts for the summer

Today Ischgl is a vacationer-free zone. Last week the decision was made that the Austrian winter sports resort Ischgl will no longer operate its lifts this winter season. “This winter we tick off,” said tourism director Andreas Steibl.

In the winter season, the Tyrolean town normally has a turnover of 300 million euros. The most important group of guests are German vacationers. Due to the quarantine obligations in Germany and Austria, tourist travel has practically come to a standstill.

The extensive safety concept that had been prepared for the winter should now be implemented in the summer season starting on June 25th. This includes, among other things, its own test station with medical staff. The wild partying is to be replaced by a dosed pleasure in the future.

The first Ischgl-Corona process starts on April 9th

The Corona issue is far from over for Ischgl. On April 9, the first trial will start in Vienna regarding the corona death of an Austrian journalist who is said to have been infected in Ischgl.

The consumer protection association (VSV) in Vienna has power of attorney for around 1,000 German vacationers in Ischgl to sue for damages because of the mistakes in crisis management.
