This was stated by GERB leader Boyko Borisov in front of 4,000 supporters a year after his arrest. He stood on the stage in the “Strength” hall next to the leaders of the GERB lists. “These are the ones who know and are capable, the ones who have proven themselves, but GERB also raised a new, young army that no one can describe. They are younger and prettier than the PPs and the DBs,” he said and invited the youngsters to come to the front of the stage. “They threatened them with five years in prison for raising the price of gasoline. But my dear, this bad dream will end sooner or later. The bad thing is that the people and the state will suffer for years,” he predicted. And he told how a producer from Haskovo told him that he was selling the bread for 70 cents, while in the chains they were selling it for BGN 50.
“The Bulgarians managed to succeed for 2 years and now, when they wake up, they see what is happening with the chains. And in the morning, they are rude on television. What forced inflation to rise in Bulgaria even before the war? The fact that they agreed and increased the prices of gasoline and diesel. But the Bulgarian is most annoyed when they reach into his pocket, and that’s exactly what they did,” explained Borisov. And the hall applauded him.
He criticized the fiscal policy of Kiril Petkov’s government. “All reasonable finance spoke out, even the patron of DB Ivan Kostov said today that he will vote for them for the last time if the deficit does not fall below 3%. And may I ask why there are now 7 parties together? What happened, Vezhdi? That for 2 years “We continue the change” cannot fight GERB, that “Democratic Bulgaria cannot fight GERB. And now they are looking for scraps from us”, added Borisov. And he refers to the leader of “United Farmers” Petya Stavreva, who now is in the coalition of PP and DB. “And she was an MEP from us and for five years she received a salary in euros,” he did not fail to point out.
Define the current time as very divided. “But we must put aside the hatred and after April 2, a regular government should be formed. It will not be stable with these budget parameters, but at least it should be regular, some laws should be adopted. Whoever loves the people should swallow their ego , to forgive, to sacrifice even the party’s interest,” urged Borisov. He believes that if hatred continues, nothing good awaits Bulgaria after April 2.
He accused PP and DB of lying about the fiscal reserve. The leader of GERB was adamant that he would not allow a tax increase. “What do they want – for the entire business to pay Vassilev’s bills – from the hair salon and the garage to the largest company, to skin them with another 33% tax. Well, they will go out into the gray economy right away. In our program, taxes are not touched,” he said Borisov.
He compared Asen Vasilev with Kashpirovski because of his statement in a show that the Bulgarian lived better now. “Why did the interest rates on the loans go up, that they impoverished people by 40%, that they paid a leva more for a liter of gasoline? Surely a group of PPs are better off. But the people are not better off. That’s why I wish old and young, knowledgeable and able to be alive and healthy, to explain to all people what needs to be done. There can be no management without the participation of GERB. We will not sign a blank check, that’s what I want you to tell everyone.” Borisov addressed the asset of GERB.
Before him, Vezhdi Rashidov spoke about the arrest of Boyko Borisov, which was declared illegal by all courts. “Mr. Borisov, don’t scare them too much, because what they did was to humiliate you and crush you. Is this worthy? These people did a very shameful thing, but I hope that after the pain you have experienced, you are tougher. There is a need – because you run a party that does not rain, there are no ants, there are educated young people. The most beautiful and united people are in GERB. I may retire one day, but I will always be with you,” he addressed Borisov Rashidov.
Toma Bykov was the first to come out to the people in the hall. “Hello, winners! Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev have already lost. 1 year ago they wanted to humiliate us. They hate us. This is not a political struggle. We did not become like them. We didn’t accept the hate. Unlike them, we love Bulgaria. Kiril Petkov and Boyko Rashkov violated the consensus on political non-violence reached in 1990,” he said.
MEP Andrey Novakov emphasized that it is important in times of war who you will lean on and who will tell you: “Calm down, we will pull the wagon out of the mud!” , when Bulgaria needed something big, it needed GERB.
The speeches were followed by the broadcast of a clip by GERB under the motto “For a stable Bulgaria again”, in which it is explained that Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev spent money that the state did not have.
“You saw from this video that the country is flying towards the abyss at breakneck speed. And the culprit for this is “We continue to change”. The three times when they touched the budget, things got worse and worse,” Delyan Dobrev said and added that the inflation in our country is a purely Bulgarian creation, due to the administration of Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev, because it is started long before the start of the war. He told how about a week ago he was briefly in hospital and there an elderly man said to him: “I am very happy with the Change, thanks to them I have become stronger. Before, when I went to the store and bought for BGN 100, I could barely carry my purchases, but now for BGN 100 I can easily carry my bag.” He vowed that GERB would save the state once again.
“The opponents of GERB claimed to be fighting for the rule of law, but they themselves violated it several times, including with the arrest of GERB leader Boyko Borisov,” European People’s Party leader Manfred Weber said in a video message. He wished GERB victory in the upcoming elections.
“The ugliest thing that happened in the last 2 years was the systematic efforts to wipe out and destroy a party, which has never happened in the democratic history of Bulgaria. Is this Harvard?” asked Tomislav Donchev. He emphasized that if change is for the worse, it is regression and decay. “The people are always wise and right, but they lied to them, deceived them, like when they sell you a bracelet that draws blood and chases away cockroaches and mice,” Donchev said and compared the PP leaders to Kashpirovsky. We have 2 ways, either this political fraud or we can heal and develop an immune response and stand up. We know the way forward, we know the direction and who will lead, because we have done it more than once,” added Tomislav Donchev.

4000 people welcomed the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov in the “Strength” hall in Plovdiv. In the hall are all the list leaders, the MEPs and the European Commissioner Maria Gabriel. People from all over the country are at the event. Among those present are Menda Stoyanova, the longtime head of the Budget Committee in the parliament, and former deputy Dani Kanazireva, who are now not among the candidate deputies.
All those present were categorical that the meeting in Plovdiv was the largest event of GERB since the beginning of the campaign.
