On Wednesday, March 1, the legendary French football player Just Fontaine passed away at the age of 89, L’Equipe reports.
Throughout his sports career, Fontaine played for the Moroccan “Casablanca”, as well as the French “Nice” and “Reims”.
He became the French champion four times (1956, 1958, 1960, 1962), twice won the French Cup (1954, 1958), twice won the French Super Cup (1958, 1960), and was also the European champion.
Fontaine played 21 games for France, scoring 30 goals. He ranks ninth on the team’s all-time leading scorers list.
