Ole Scheeren – a world famous architect
Self Architect the Karlsruher Ol Scheeren earned an international reputation. His award-winning buildings are particularly well known in Asia. A real eye-catcher.
“The plot” in Singapore. A residential project with green spaces and water areas that appears as a collection of cardboard boxes overturned and piled up haphazardly.
»A building that is good for the environment can only be truly good if it is also good for the people who work or live there.«
Live, work and experience nature in one building
Or the CCTV Chinese state television broadcasting center in Beijing. One of the tallest buildings in the world. The permeability between living and working space with nature is important to Ole Scheeren and he says:
»Architecture is an expression of reality and the future vision of possible living environments together.«

The “Heavenly Karlsruhe Striker”
Ole Scheeren started as a teenager in his father’s architecture firm. Then he designed furniture or even a hotel lobby, which was then also created in this way. Meanwhile he has been called “The German who is rebuilding the world”, “The lord of the towers” or “Karlsruhe sky striker” in the headlines.
“I think it was very clear to me, even as a teenager, that I had to go out into the world to find what interested me. The contemplative, especially at home, has never particularly interested me.«
