A worker died after a work accident on a construction site in Plovdiv. The incident happened at 9 o’clock yesterday, Plovdiv police confirmed for “Maritsa”. The man, who is in his early 50s, worked on a construction site on Osvobozhdenie Blvd. in the Trakia district. According to preliminary information, he was on scaffolding when he suddenly staggered and fell from the fifth floor. Given the height of 12-14 meters, the worker was seriously injured. After calling 112, an ambulance arrived at the scene. The man was taken to the hospital but died there.
An inspection of the case has been ordered by the Plovdiv Labor Inspectorate, the director of the institute, Eng. Atanas Chernaev, told our media.
The construction company where the fatal accident occurred is GBS. It is also specified which company was the employer of the deceased, because there are probably subcontractors. It remains to be clarified exactly how the accident occurred and whether all safety requirements have been met.
Due to the incident, mass inspections of construction sites in Plovdiv began.
