The fatal accident occurred this Wednesday morning on the construction site of the future Grand Paris Express metro in Saint-Denis. According to the first elements of the investigation, a fall of material would be at the origin of the death.
“A companion who worked on the site died this morning around 11:30 a.m.“, indicates the Société du Grand Paris Express on its twitter account.
According to France Bleu Paris, the firefighters failed to revive the worker who worked for the Eiffage company.
“An inquest is underway to determine the circumstances of the death.“, explains the Société du Grand Paris.
The future Saint-Denis Pleyel station is one of SGP’s largest projects. Four lines of the future metro (lines 14, 15, 16 and 17) are to be interconnected there with RER D.
This is the second death on the construction sites of the future large metro which will eventually cover 200 km around Paris. In December 2020, a 41-year-old worker had already died on the construction site of line 16 in La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis) after falling into a grinding tank located 30 meters deep.
