A 27-year-old woman was raped while she was at the foot of her building in Villeurbanne (Rhône), this Sunday, February 27. The facts occurred around 8 a.m. and the victim filed a complaint. She told officers she believed her attacker had followed her from the subway. At the hospital, this very shocked woman received treatment and was prescribed ten days of total incapacity for work (ITT).
The investigators of the departmental brigade of the family of the departmental security were in charge of the file. They began by exploiting video surveillance for a long time. Research which made it possible to obtain images of the author of the facts and to retrace his journey. He had just come out of the subway, like his victim, when he started following her. Thanks to the transport card he used when leaving the station, and to a telephone job, a 21-year-old Afghan national in a regular situation in France was identified. The latter is a homeless person who is not known to the police.
Identical clothes and a DNA trace
The police eventually located this man this Wednesday around 1 p.m. He was immediately arrested and taken into custody. “The clothes he was wearing at the time of his arrest were identical to those of the author on the day of the incident”says a source familiar with the matter.
During his hearings, the young man denied the facts, despite the many elements implicating him, and in particular his DNA which was discovered on the victim. Referred this Friday, he was indicted. A judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) had to make a decision at the end of the day as to his possible placement in pre-trial detention.
