Jakarta –
The story of a pregnant woman who tragically died as a result of not being allowed to give birth by caesarean section is viral on social media.
It turned out that this incident was real. In 2017, China shocked the death of a pregnant woman by jumping from a hospital building because a cesarean delivery was prohibited.
Quoted from BBCA 26-year-old woman, surnamed Ma, jumped from a hospital window in northern Shaanxi province. The child she was carrying also died.

Huo Junwei, a doctor at Yulin Number One hospital, told China Economic Daily that Ma “left the ward twice and told her family that the pain was unbearable, and she wanted a section cesarean, but her family did not allow the procedure. “
A statement from the hospital said that Ma was 41 weeks pregnant, and that doctors had decided that “the large circumference of the fetal head meant that a vaginal delivery would be very dangerous”.
The hospital said that when medical staff asked the family for their opinion, they refused surgery and wanted to continue monitoring the situation.
“Her doctors and nurses also advised her husband to allow surgery, but all requests were denied,” the statement said.
Ma reportedly became emotional and lost control due to the pain, and jumped from the building that day and died.
In that year, based on regulations issued by the State Council, China’s Cabinet, medical centers must obtain consent from patients and signatures from family members before performing surgery, but doctors can make decisions without permission in emergency cases.
