Police report that a woman in her 20s from Vestvågøy died on a mountain trip in Higravtind on Vågan in Nordland.

Next of kin have been notified.

It is said that the woman fell on a trip down the mountain. It is not known at this time how far she has fallen.

– Both an ambulance and a rescue helicopter were sent to the scene. It was established after a short time that that person had died, says operations manager Remi Johansen to NRK.

The police were informed about the accident at 19:00 on Friday night, and they reported what happened on Sunday night. The reason is that it has taken time to notify relatives, according to the operations manager.

The woman was in a tour group with three other people who knew each other. Relatives and the tour party are being followed, according to the police.

According to Ulf Slettan in the Nordland police district, Higravtind is a mountain that is in high demand, but it is not unusual for people to climb it. It is a famous tourist destination for many people.

He says the tour group appear to be experienced hikers.
