A woman heads the Human Rights Commission in Saudi Arabia

Jeddah ∙ The head of the Human Rights Commission in Saudi Arabia is a woman. Commission President Dr. Hala bint Maseed bin Mohammed Al Tuwaijiri was appointed by King Salman,

The current president dr. Awad Al Awad was removed from his post and appointed as a royal court advisor. Dr. Hala Al Tuwaijiri has held the position of Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council since June 2017. She Chairs the Women’s Empowerment Team at the G-20. Since April 2021 she has also been an administrative consultant at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

Previously, he held the positions of Vice-Dean of King Saud University Arts College, Vice-Dean and Lecturer of English and Literature Department at the same college. Last year, the country was awarded the King Abdulaziz medal. He holds a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in English literature from King Saud University. He teaches Modern English Literature and Literary Criticism and is currently Assistant Professor of English Literature at the University.
