A couple from the American city of Lakeland in the state of Florida found an engagement ring that disappeared 21 years ago. The jewelry was stuck in the toilet, right where it enters the drain, the New York Post reported.
Nick Day gave his future wife Shayna a diamond ring for Christmas and asked her to marry him. Shortly after, however, the jewel disappeared. Shaina suspected she might have fallen down the toilet.
The couple searched the entire house, including the toilet. Attempts to locate the diamond ring proved unsuccessful.
He disappeared for two decades and probably wouldn’t have been found if Nick’s mother Renee hadn’t decided to fix the toilet. And the ring was discovered.
Nick’s parents wrapped up the found ring and gave it to the couple for Christmas.
“We both knew immediately what it was,” Day told reporters. Shayna burst into tears when she saw the shocking discovery.
“I was crying like crazy. I sat down and said, ‘Oh my God, that’s my ring. This is my ring,’ and I smeared makeup all over my face,” the woman rejoiced. The couple also said they have not yet decided whether to keep the ring or use its diamonds to create a new piece of jewelry.
