A 39-year-old woman was found around 4:10 pm. at the bottom of the elevator shaft inside the Food Emporium on West 43rd Street near 10th Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, local officials and media said. The identity of the deceased, found dead Tuesday afternoon in a Midtown Manhattan supermarket, was not immediately disclosed, pending notification to her family. “I needed to stock up on food for the storm, so I came here. , then I saw the stretcher enter the Food Emporium and my heart stopped, ”said Jess Mayeur, 39, who witnessed the rescue.

The reconstruction of the facts
A first reconstruction was provided by the Department of Buildings: the employee was loading a small freight elevator when it suddenly moved upwards.
