a woman decided to be a surrogate mother and gave birth to 9 babies

Although pregnancy can be complicated for many women, there are others who enjoy it from start to finish. Such is the case of Laura McCarthy, an English woman who has given birth to 9 babies during her life.

In an interview with The Sun, McCarthy assured that she is “addicted to being pregnant”, which led her to lend her womb to bring the children of several couples into the world, through in vitro fertilization.

The 33-year-old, who has four children of her own, gave birth to her first baby as a surrogate mother 11 years ago, later having twins, a boy and a girl. “I love being a mother, it is the best job in the world and I love being able to help someone fulfill their dream of becoming a father. I want to end the misconceptions about surrogate mothers,” said Laura.

The medical process to which McCarthy underwent five times has allowed several couples with difficulty conceiving to become parents. Her desire to help other people fulfill that dream made the Englishwoman more careful with her health, so she decided to lose weight to continue renting her belly.

“Having had nine babies and definitely wanting more, I couldn’t risk having a tenth baby by being that overweight, due to associated risk factors,” she told The Sun.

Laura thought about becoming a surrogate mother after seeing a TV show. During the pregnancy, the woman meets the baby’s family, and maintains contact with them after giving birth, with the aim that, as they grow up, the little one can learn about how they came into the world.

McCarthy’s work is not paid, since, in the United Kingdom, doing so is illegal, so carrying another couple’s baby in her womb is an economically disinterested action.

“Once you see the baby in her arms, you can see that unconditional love right away. It is very worth it. That feeling can be a bit addictive.”

Currently, Laura hopes to carry the baby of a single father, with an egg that will be donated.
