Srinagar. A strange case has come to light in Jammu and Kashmir. Here the same woman did ‘fake-marriage’ with many men and ran away by bluffing them. This woman, who legally married more than 20 men one after the other, is now absconding and till now no one has any information about her real name, identity or address. The mysterious case of a woman from Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir will remind you of Bollywood’s famous ‘Looteri Dulhan’.
According to a report published in Jammu and Kashmir’s local newspaper Kashmiriyat, the incident came to light when more than a dozen men approached the police to lodge missing reports for their wives. However, all the pictures turned out to be of the same woman. One of the victims, a resident of Budgam, told that a tout had shown him the picture of this woman for marriage.
Marriage done through broker in 2 lakhs
The man’s father said that since his son had some physical problems, he had given money to a tout to find a girl for marriage. For this purpose the family paid him Rs 2 lakh for the marriage. Later, when the family reached Rajouri with some relatives and booked some hotel rooms, the middleman kept delaying the marriage.

“After a few days, they said that the girl had met with an accident and returned half the money to me. However, after a few hours they asked for the money back and showed us pictures of another girl. According to the victim’s father Abdul Ahad Mir, when we agreed to the marriage, the woman was brought around the time of Isha (night prayer). The family then returned to Kashmir the same night and a few days later the woman complained of some health problems.
Bride absconded from hospital, took gold too
According to The Kashmiriyat report, after this her husband took her to the hospital and when he went to book the appointment ticket, the new bride disappeared from the spot. The victim’s family said that they had taken gold worth more than five lakhs as dowry (guarantee) for the woman.

Another victim’s brother said that a middleman showed the woman during the night and the marriage was performed around that time. The victim’s brother said, ‘She was at home in Chadura Budgam only for ten days, however, after that she ran away from the hospital. Another victim, Mohammad Altaf Mir, a resident of Budgam in central Kashmir, said he too was married to the same woman.
The victim said that she forged the documents of the woman and never disclosed her real name. The woman disappeared from the house one night taking everything inside the house.
