A heart pump capable of operating wirelessly. This is what FineHeart has developed and has just tested successfully for several days. Today people suffering from heart failure, often awaiting a transplant, are equipped with a device to assist the failing heart. The energy is supplied by means of a cord coming out of the chest “Which is the cause of 30% of deaths due to complications and infections”, assures Arnaud Mascarell, founder of FineHeart.
Speed up blood flow
His company has developed a miniaturized heart pump (ICOMS) , whose battery is recharged through the skin like phones or electric toothbrushes. A world first made possible by the very design of FineHeart’s cardiac assistance device, insists Arnaud Mascarell: “ICOMS consumes much less energy than the competitors which sucks blood from the heart, while ours behaves in the opposite direction by accompanying the contractions of the heart and which makes it possible to accelerate the flow of blood to the body. Needing less energy obviously helped us. The year 2021 will be devoted to the preparation of clinical trials which could start next year.
