NEW YORK – NYPD special operations officers patrolling the waters off Rockaway Beach in Queens recently enjoyed a show.
A whale was spotted as harbor members passed by and the photos were taken by one of the NYPD members on board, according to a Tuesday tweet from NYPD special operations. The species was not clear in the photos.
Sightings have become more frequent in recent years thanks to continued conservation efforts, which have helped fish populations thrive and oceans to stay cleaner, wildlife experts say.
