Actor and drummer Miroslav Středa breathed his last breath on Saturday, he was 76 years old. Towards the end of his life he suffered from the insidious Alzheimer’s disease. Do you remember him from legendary Czechoslovak series such as Ambulance or Sons and Daughters of Jakub Sklář and the post-revolutionary ones, for example from Wild Earth. He also worked on theatrical boards.
Wednesday he came from Náchod and was a trained adjuster of textile machines. However, acting attracted him from a young age, so he became willing and soon got to the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno. After a short engagement at the Petr Bezruč Theater in Ostrava, his home stage for decades became the State Theater in Brno, today’s Brno National Theater.
He played several smaller roles in legendary series, such as Ambulance, Sons and Daughters of Jakub Sklář, Zdivočelá země or Četnické humoresky.
Of the films, the comedy Bulldogs stuck in the audience’s memory. On Wednesday, he replaced Jiří Hrzán, who tragically died while filming. In the late 1970s, he moved from the Moravian metropolis to the Drama Club in Prague, where he remained permanently.
Wednesday was 76 years old, last exhaled on Saturday. He fought the insidious Alzheimer’s disease for a long time.
