After a few months of work during the summer, the Maison du don de Perpignan Nord, located behind the Hospital, has had a makeover and hopes to attract new donors during a week of events on the Blood & Gold theme in partnership with several structures. from the city.
In Perpignan, only 2.3% of the population gives blood against 4% at the national level, the French Blood Establishment has decided to call on its partners to mobilize the Perpignan population this week:
– Monday February 20the Union des Métiers et des Industries de l’Hôtellerie des PO called on its member restaurateurs to improve the snacks for blood donors;
– Tuesday 21 and Friday 24 Februarythe Espace Polygone Association asked member structures in the sector to create a festive atmosphere over these two days;
– Wednesday February 22 : USAP players will be present at several times of the day for autograph sessions and photos with the donors;
– Thursday February 23Les Toques Blanches du Roussillon Occitanie have mobilized a few chefs to improve the snacks for blood donors.

A blood donation only takes 45 minutes, including only ten minutes for the collection. The EFS recalls that blood donations must be regular and constant (4 times a year for women, 6 times for men) because the shelf life of blood products is limited (7 days for platelets, 42 days for Red cells). 10,000 blood donations (including 80 in POs) are needed every day to meet the needs of patients and no product can replace the blood of voluntary donors. Occitania has one of the lowest stocks in France (12.4 days against 16.7 days nationally), which is why the mobilization of donors is essential every day.
