About a week after the start of the national campaign for vaccination with the emerging corona virus vaccine, an official source at the Ministry of Health revealed details of the health status of the medical teams that have received the vaccination so far.
Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, announced yesterday, Friday, that 1315 medical teams have received the first dose of the new Corona virus vaccine in 22 isolation and fever hospitals in a number of governorates of the Republic since last Monday.
The source told Masrawy that all the doctors who received the first dose of the Corona vaccine “are in good health and most of them are still practicing their work duties without showing severe side effects.”
The source added that some doctors only complained of very slight effects, most notably itching at the site of the vaccination, or stress, whose symptoms quickly disappeared, and this is normal for vaccination with various vaccines or serums.
He pointed out that the Ministry is continuing to complete its campaign to vaccinate medical staff working in the first lines to confront the Corona pandemic, in all isolation, fever and chest hospitals in the first place, and then the rest of government hospitals, respectively.
He continued: “This is completely normal. Sometimes the flu vaccine itself causes some side effects. Let us emphasize that the vaccine is safe and effective and that all medical staff must obtain it to protect them and the patients who deal with them.”
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, indicated to Masrawy that doctors in these hospitals will receive the vaccine first, followed by the groups most affected if they are infected with the virus, such as those with chronic diseases and the elderly.
Mujahid called on all hospital workers to get the vaccine, pointing out that vaccination is “optional” and not compulsory, but it is very important in preventing and keeping workers in those hospitals from contracting Corona.
He explained that there is an increase in the requests that the Ministry registers from the medical team to obtain the Chinese vaccine, after reassuring them of its effectiveness and safety, and what they saw after many of their colleagues obtained it over the past two days.
In turn, Dr. Abdel Moneim Salim, the first person to receive the Coronavirus vaccine, said in televised statements that he felt some side effects two days after receiving the vaccine inside the “Abu Khalifah” isolation hospital, as he felt a burning sensation in the throat and a headache that lasted with him throughout the day before it ended in the day the third.
“Salim” had previously told Masrawy that on the second day he also felt slight pain when he got the “vaccine injection”.
The Ministry of Health had prepared an informed consent form before receiving the Coronavirus vaccine, and anyone wishing to receive the vaccine must sign it in advance.
The model mentioned the possible side effects of receiving the vaccine, that some common symptoms may occur upon receiving the vaccine, including: pain, redness, stiffness and itching at the vaccination site, high temperature, headache, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, allergies, muscle pain, pain Joint, lethargy, convulsive seizures.
