Doha: After a long hiatus, Qatar welcomed the Egyptian president on a friendly evening. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, arrived at the Amiri terminal of Hamad International Airport, was welcomed in Qatar by a high-level delegation led by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Al-Sisi’s visit to Doha is the first since Egypt and three Gulf countries imposed sanctions on Qatar in 2017.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Althani, Head of Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saud bin Abdurrahman Althani, Minister of Trade and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qasim Althani, Ambassador of Qatar to Egypt Salim bin Mubarak Al Shafi and Egyptian Ambassador to Qatar, Amir Al Sherbini, also attended the reception.
The Egyptian president arrived in Qatar for a two-day visit. During the visit, diplomatic and bilateral relations between Egypt and Qatar, commercial transactions in various sectors, investments, energy and food cooperation will be discussed.
