Old goods were seized from a shop and warehouse for the wholesale and retail trade of sugar and chocolate products in Burgas

Nearly 2 tons of sugar and chocolate products have been seized from a warehouse in Burgas due to an expired or falsified expiry date. The period for the consumption of some products expired already in 2016. And during the action itself, employees were found who, at the same time, changed the labels for suitability.

The reason for the inspection of the “Economic Police” and the Food Safety Agency – the parents reported that there are goods with a falsified expiration date in the trading network. During the inspection, the uniformed officers came across employees who were at that very moment falsifying the dates

“Using cotton and acetone they erased the dates, this is ink that was applied to the packages in an invisible way. And with the new dates they apply the new deadlines for a year ahead,” explained the manager. insp. Nikolay Stoilkov of the Burgas “Economic Police”.

Large quantities of products were seized from the warehouse of the company, which has over 20 years of experience in the market.

“More than 4,000 pieces of chocolate, sugar products and other food products were handled with a new expiration date. The oldest we have come across – since 2016,” Inspector Stoilkov also said.

More than 16,000 products were waiting to be processed.

And parents say they’ve come across products with different labels stacked on top of each other.

An investigation procedure has been initiated in the case and the products will be destroyed.
