A violent drone attack on an American base in Syria

Syrian media reported that a violent explosion took place on Saturday night at the Conico base, where American forces are stationed, in the countryside in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor.

The media explained that the attack, which it described as violence, was carried out by suicide drones.

This comes a day after Israel assassinated the Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, a key ally of the Syrian regime and Iran.

So far, it is not clear whether the attack on the American base caused any casualties.

In the same context, Al Jazeera’s correspondent said that early Sunday, aircraft bombed the site of the Iraqi “Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades” group in the Albukamal area on the border between Iraq and Syria.

The reporter had previously reported that 3 explosions had occurred in the Albukamal district in Deir ez-Zor country, eastern Syria.

Earlier, Iran’s Minister of Information said, “The opposition axis will take revenge on Nasrallah by liberating Jerusalem and destroying the Zionist entity.”

From time to time, American bases in Syria and Iraq come under attacks by armed groups said to be loyal to Tehran.

The New York Times said that American officials said that Washington is worried about the start of a wider war that could include the entire region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that the United States is a proven partner of Israel in its crimes in Gaza and Lebanon.

Araqchi said that Nasrallah was targeted by reinforcement-piercing weapons “provided by the United States to the Zionist entity,” recalling Washington’s obstruction of UN Security Council resolutions related to ending the war on Gaza.
