For three weeks now, thrill seekers have been able to discover the new summer program every Tuesday evening on M6 “Special forces: experience“. Between adrenaline, intense physical exercises and cold sweats, the candidates for the military program concocted byformer soldiers of the French military elite were not disappointed. But they certainly did not expect this final exercise.
The mind, a non-negotiable skill
From their first days at the camp, the volunteers were able to discover the Special Forces selection tests. And if some did not stay until the end of the adventure, the mentally strongest are still present. Because it is obviously not a secret: the mind is one of the major assets of top athletes and a non-negotiable condition for integrate the elite commandos of the French army.
Reproduce the shock of a capture
And to test mental strength and the ability to resist stress volunteers of this extraordinary adventure, the instructors of the Special Forces do not skimp on the means. For the final episode of this first season of the show, each contestant was the “victim” of a violent ambush. While everyone is supposed to join a certain “Mr. Hantz“to gather information allowing him to escape, he is suddenly attacked from behind by several hooded individuals.
“We fall on them, we push them to the ground: it’s quite violent!” says Chief Instructor Ryan.
Brutalized, hooded, without any possible escape, the only solution then remains calm and self-control. One goal: to reproduce the shock of a capture. And to make the ordeal even more oppressive, elite soldiers call in foreign instructors to disorientate the volunteers of the show.
“If it’s us who capture them, they know us, it’s less stressful. We’ll have to push them to the maximum,” admits instructor Victor.
“Okay, we’re screwed”
If of course all this is only fiction and training for the volunteers, the objective is well to “make them feel what can happen if they are taken prisoner“An experience which unfortunately turned out to be very real for Crao, 17 years in the Special Forces.
“I have already been taken prisoner, with a brother in arms. (…) Around us sparks, shots that hit 5 cm, 10 cm, it passed between us, on the sides. we said to each other ‘well, we’re screwed, we have to surrender, it’s not possible’ “.
