Widely circulated video clips monitored a strange movement of birds, said to be in Turkey, at dawn on Monday, prior to the devastating earthquake, while it was not possible to verify its authenticity immediately.
In one of the scenes, birds were flying in the sky of a Turkish city in unusual numbers at this particular time.
In a scene that seemed strange, dozens of birds gathered in huge numbers above bare-branches trees.
It seems that the strange sound and movement emanating from these birds caught the attention of a person, so he photographed them, even though the time was around four in the morning.
One of the first accounts to post the video on Twitter was OsintT, on February 6, the day of the earthquake.
The video posted on this site had 5.7 million views as of Wednesday evening.
The account did not mention more details except for referring to the “strange movement” of birds prior to the earthquake. It did not say, for example, where the video was filmed, nor could it be verified.
Some questioned the validity of the video, given that there is no snow in Turkey, but snow has already fallen in parts of the country.
Away from this controversy, which was marginal, the comments focused on the capabilities of animals that can know the time of earthquakes much earlier than humans.
The hypothesis that animals know before humans about the occurrence of an earthquake has accompanied humans since ancient times, and there is contemporary research that supports this theory.
For example, a study was conducted in Germany on the behavior of animals before earthquakes, and concluded that animals were 50 percent more active before earthquakes, indicating that they feel the disaster before it occurs.
