“We expect mild weather accompanied by rain, with temperatures above the norm for the season. Saturday 31 December we could reach 16 degrees ”, continues the meteorologist.
These two distinct periods can be explained by a blocked anticyclone over the British Isles:
“Very cold airflow from the North Pole and Scandinavia got stuck over Europe and France in early December. Then, a more virulent trough from the South Atlantic displaced this anticyclone and pushed the cold air mass back towards Northern Europe from 19 December. »
