In the annals of meteorologists, the month of December 2022 will remain divided into two distinct periods.
The first, which goes up to December 19, 2022, when it was very cold, “Below the normal seasons. The last time it was this cold was in December 2010,” explains Stéphane Nedeljkovitch, meteorologist at Météonews.
And, the second period of the month, from December 19, when the sweetness subsides. The month isn’t over, but in the days to come, the announced temperatures will certainly make the average maximum rise.

Two distinct periods
“We expect mild weather accompanied by rain, with temperatures above the norm for the season. Saturday 31 December we could reach 16 degrees ”, continues the meteorologist.
These two distinct periods can be explained by a blocked anticyclone over the British Isles:
“Very cold airflow from the North Pole and Scandinavia got stuck over Europe and France in early December. Then, a more virulent trough from the South Atlantic displaced this anticyclone and pushed the cold air mass back towards Northern Europe from 19 December. »
