ASSE, on the hunt for a goalkeeper for the second half of the season, is getting busy and could attract one of the best goalkeepers in Ligue 2. Indeed, the current Valenciennes goalkeeper, Gautier Larsonneur, could drop his bags in the Forez after being interviewed this summer.
ASSE is looking to strengthen its backbone after a disastrous first part of the season. Having welcomed a goalscorer, he was on the hunt for a goalkeeper, a position for which Laurent Batlles is strongly hoping for a heavy reinforcement.
Etienne Green, who started the season, delivered performances that quickly convinced the staff to place Mathieu Dreyer in the number one position. Problem, the latter did not reassure Laurent Batlles more who asked to quickly strengthen the position of the goalkeeper during the next transfer window.
According to information from Laurent Hess, of But Football Club, Gautier Larsonneur would be the priority track for the Saint-Etienne coach. The reporter points it out “if Batlles has thought of Gauthier Gallon, his former protégé in Troyes, Larsonneur (25) is precisely his first choice. The contact has been established. Already in the crosshairs of ASSE last winter, the former Brestois belongs to VA, which would ask between 3 and 4 M€ for his transfer.
ASSE will (again) have to collect the checkbook!
It will therefore be a question of convincing Valenciennes to let go of the one who is currently participating in the club’s good start to the season. Coached by Jérémie Janot, Gautier Larsonneur has produced excellent copy since he joined the Nord. It is therefore difficult to imagine the people of Valenciennes easily abandoning one of his possessions.
However, one thing has changed on the AXI side: the leaders have agreed to loosen the purse strings. Therefore, the proposal made to Gautier Larsonneur could hardly be rejected as the one made to Charbonnier. In the absence of arguments, ASSE therefore has the money to convince them to join despite its classification in Ligue 2.
Valenciennes will also want a dry transfer, and it could be that the check that St-Etienne will have to sign will reach at least 3 million euros. If the negotiation will not fail to bring down this tariff, it cannot be excluded that the Greens will not try to discuss for too long to be able to count quickly on Larsonneur, ie from the first days of January.
One thing is certain, to date the two clubs are discussing, and if there is still nothing in agreement between the two clubs, a solution could be quickly found. Keep on…
