Miraflores, June 9, 2023. What would our stories be like if shame did not exist? A playwright takes this question as a starting point in “A vain attempt to go after the sun”, the new work that the municipality of Miraflores is presenting until June 18 at the Julio Ramón Ribeyro Auditorium of the Ricardo Palma Cultural Center.
It is an interdisciplinary work that combines theater, dance and the circus to create a collage of stories through characters created by a playwright who undertakes an internal search to write a story about shame.
The work shows a playwright who fails to write; a dancer who cannot dance; an actress who is incapable of acting; a girl; and, finally, Juana, “the crazy one”. Very soon, they will realize that the role of shame in their lives – as artists and as women – is much more present than they had imagined.
“A vain attempt to go after the sun” is a winning project of the Economic Stimulus for Culture 2022, an incentive granted by the Ministry of Culture. It is written by Nae Hanashiro, directed by Micaela Valdés and features performances by prominent actresses Daniela Zea, Daniela Trucíos, Gabriela Gallegos, Macarena Carrillo and Karina Toscano.
The performances are scheduled for Friday June 9 and 16 at 8:00 pm, Saturday June 10 and 17 at 8:00 pm and Sunday June 11 and 18 at 7:00 pm This appointment with the art is in the Julio Ramón Ribeyro auditorium of the Ricardo Palma Cultural Center – Av. José Larco 770, Miraflores. Tickets can be purchased at Joining:
