A US archdiocese agrees to publish files of sexual abuse cases – Diario La Página –

The Archdiocese of New Orleans (Louisiana, USA) has agreed to publish the files of cases of sexual abuse committed within its institution, according to a statement, which was shared this Thursday by the WDSU television channel.

The local media indicates that, in an attempt to create more transparency, the sealed records will also soon be public through an archive, detailing that they will be hosted online by a university that is committed to archiving the documentation.

He also notes that lawyers for the diocese and survivors of sexual abuse have presented a plan outlining ways to ensure that sexual abuse of minors does not happen again, adding that, in this way, the Archdiocese of New Orleans takes a step towards the end of bankruptcy.

“The Church is committed to protecting children and preventing the evil of child sexual abuse in our parishes, schools and Catholic ministries,” said Archbishop Gregory Aymond. “I welcome this progress in our reorganization, but more importantly, I welcome new means to strengthen our existing and effective programs for the protection and safety of our children across all our ministries,” he added.
