A Ukrainian missile hit us, Belarus reports

A group of experts from the army, the Ministry of Defense and the Interior has launched an investigation into the case.

A missile of the S-300 anti-aircraft complex launched by Ukraine struck Belarus between ten and eleven in the morning local time (eight and nine o’clock CET), Belta reports. It fell near the city of Ivanava in the Brest region.

Investigators hypothesize two variants of the accident. According to the first, it could have been an unwanted incident similar to the one that occurred in Poland, whose territory was hit by a Ukrainian air defense missile in mid-November as Ukraine defended itself from Russian airstrikes. The possibility that it was a missile shot down by Belarusian air defenses is also being investigated.

Ukraine faced a large-scale airstrike on Thursday. Presidential adviser Mychajlo Podoljak said more than 120 missiles were aimed at the ground. The attack aimed to damage the energy infrastructure. Many cities and regions are reporting widespread power outages. For example, Lviv in western Ukraine was 90% without electricity.

In Kiev, where fragments of rockets hit two family homes, according to the mayor of the city, Vitalije Kliček, at least three people were injured, including a fourteen-year-old girl.

Ukrainian Army Chief of Staff Valery Zaluzhnyi later said that according to initial reports, Russia attacked Ukraine with 69 missiles, of which Ukrainian forces managed to destroy 54.
