Sixty-eight people showed up on Monday, March 13 at the Espace-République room for the quarterly blood donation organized by the Association of blood donors from Vergèze, Codognan, Mus, Uchaud and Vestric. Among them, sixteen had made an appointment on the site and four were refused.
“The afternoon had started badly and we were worried, explains Odette Bonnet, the new president, but after work, people arrived. This is an average collection. We are not like before, around 75 donations. We even went to more than 100.”
With her team of five volunteers, who are also trying to expand despite the recent arrival of Véronique, she provides stewardship and the little extra that goes with it after the donation. A new team that has invested in communication “to reach more people because stocks are at their lowest, especially after operations have resumed. We are also raising awareness about platelet, plasma and bone marrow donations”. A Facebook page is being created “to revitalize everything”.
During collections, volunteers also collect plastic caps from the Bouchons gardois operation, which promotes actions for people who are sick or in difficulty.
