Just days ago, the government majority announced that it would revise the particularly controversial Section 24 of the Security Act, which would limit the distribution of police officers’ footage. But the organizers of the protest want the passage to be deleted entirely. The law also contains other controversial measures. For example, the intention is to expand video surveillance by the police, for example during demonstrations, also with the help of drones. According to the government, this should help protect the police.
In any case, there is a lot of dissatisfaction with the security law. This afternoon, during the demonstration, there were inconsistencies on Avenue Gambetta. Rioters have set several cars on fire. Several shop windows have also been killed. According to Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, 22 rioters have already been arrested.
