A 43-year-old truck driver died this morning on the A-31 in Alicante when he overturned his vehicle when he swerved to avoid a car that, after losing control, had crossed the median and was going in the opposite direction.
The Firefighting Accident Rescue Unit of the Alicante Prevention, Fire Extinction and Rescue Service (SPEIS) and the Provincial Consortium, together with patrols from the Local Police and the Civil Traffic Guard have come this morning to intervene in two accidents simultaneous events that occurred on the A-70 and A-31 in Alicante, both around 00.00 hours, in which it was necessary to rescue two people, and the truck driver has died. The Alicante City Council has shown their condolences and deeply regretted the accident and the death of the UTE worker.
As reported by sources from the Local Police, the most serious accident has occurred on the A-31, at the height of PK-231, near Rebolledo, where for reasons investigated by the Civil Guard, an accident has occurred in the that a heavy articulated truck from the cleaning company UTE and a passenger car have been implicated.
The Local Police and Civil Guard have coordinated the emergency, and it has been necessary to cut the highway, five teams of firefighters from the SPEIS and the Provincial Consortium, three teams from the Civil Guard and two from Alicante Local Police have traveled to the scene of the accident , who has collaborated in traffic regulation tasks while the truck driver was rescued and the injured passenger driver was treated.
The Local Police have reported that a UTE truck has been involved in the accident that has been overturned and its driver trapped inside the cabin, which has been very affected by the strong impact, suffering said driver injuries of a very serious nature, and the driver of the other car involved has been evacuated to the hospital.
In the accident, an operation was organized with fourteen firefighters who quickly intervened in the rescue and release of the victim. The SPEIS Accident Rescue Unit, together with the members of the Provincial Consortium, have used special tools and have carried out release work to get the driver out of the truck as quickly as possible and be able to access even the deceased who was trapped in the cabin.
The work of the firefighters has been extended by an hour to carry out the maneuvers to release the driver. Once they managed to get him out of the truck, the health services have confirmed that he was deceased. Likewise, the Local Police has collaborated in the regulation of traffic and the cut off of the highway, and the causes of the accident are investigated by the Civil Traffic Guard.

The vehicle has been occupying the traffic lane and its driver has been transferred to the hospital. Several units of the Alicante Local Police participated in the operation, regulating traffic until the road was cleared.
