A trolley with 8 main products in our country – BGN 44.21 The same in Germany

Bulgarian consumers of an international supermarket chain paid BGN 7.25 more than their customers in Germany. This is demonstrated by Radio Shumen’s check on the prices of 8 basic products offered in the two countries the day before Christmas.

German consumers paid BGN 36.96 for a kilo of sausages, oil, rice, bananas, sugar and flour, half a kilo of macaroni and 300 grams of cherry tomatoes. The market basket with these products costs BGN 44.21 in our country. Flour, sugar and oil are traded more expensive in Germany, which was priced at BGN 7.83 per litre. If we eliminate sunflower oil from the formula, the difference in shopping cart prices rises to BGN 10.29 in favor of German customers.

A kilogram of pork sausages in Germany cost 6.98 euros (or 13.70 BGN) before Christmas in Germany. In our country, similar sausages of the same brand were sold for BGN 21.23.

A liter of oil in Germany costs 3.99 euros (or 7.83 BGN). At a normal price in the same chain in our country, the product was available for BGN 4.79, and in the week before Christmas, an offer was made for BGN 3.65 per liter of sunflower oil.

The comparison with pasta is very interesting. This is a completely identical product and weight. For 500 grams of fusilli in Germany they pay 99 euro cents (i.e. 1.94 BGN), and here they cost 41 cents more (i.e. 2.35 BGN).

The situation with rice is similar. Again, the same brand of basmati rice is available in both countries, but in different cuts. Therefore, we apply a price per kilogram. In Germany it is 2.69 euros (or 5.28 BGN), and here it is 70 cents (or 5.98 BGN) higher.

Bananas in Germany were almost 60 cents cheaper. One kilogram costs 1.25 euros (or 2.45 BGN), and in our country 2.99 BGN.

300 grams of cherry tomatoes in Germany were sold for 1.29 lev. In our country, a cut packed in this weight costs BGN 2.99.

A kilogram of white sugar in Germany costs customers 1.49 euros or (2.92 leva). In Bulgaria, the price was 33 cents (or BGN 2.59) lower.

One kilogram of type 405 flour in Germany costs 79 euro cents (or 1.55 BGN). There is no identical product in our country, but type 500 flour has been sold for 26 cents (or 1.29 lev per kilogram) less.
