A train near Prague killed a woman crossing the track

The accident occurred after 6 pm on the railway line between Prague’s Zbraslav and Vraný nad Vltavou, in the Jarov locality. According to witnesses, the woman was crossing the railway line, being hit by a train heading for Prague.

“Our professional firefighters went to the place together with colleagues from Prague and the unit of the Railway Administration,” said firefighter spokesman Jaroslav Gabriel.

The paramedics called in could no longer help the woman, and the doctor declared her death. Firefighters lit a footpath next to the railway line, which subsequently evacuated more than 10 passengers from the train. Traffic on the track was stopped in both directions. A bus arrived in Jarov for evacuated passengers from the train.

The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the police together with the railway inspection.
