Thursday January 12, 2023, the firefighters rescued, at the very beginning of the day, an injured driver on avenue de Verdun, in Draguignan. “The Var firefighters intervene for a traffic accident, involving a light vehicle. The driver is slightly injured”reports the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of Var.
Gas leaks and evacuations
If this accident seems at first sight of small magnitude, it is not so. The driver of the accident vehicle “hit a gas distribution box, causing a leak”report the firefighters.
They have deployed an important device: “Two fire-fighting vehicles, an ambulance, a road rescue vehicle and a command vehicle”.
If the leak has since been “stopped”indicates the firefighters shortly after 9 am, many evacuations have taken place. “As a precaution, a nursery and a residential building, located in the immediate vicinity, are evacuated”indicate the Sdis du Var.
“Concerning this intervention, the readings taken are negative. All the occupants can return to the various premises. The firefighters’ device leaves the scene of the intervention.”
