A tourist died in the area of Malak Mechi Vruh in Rila

Yesterday at 19:00 in PSS-Blagoevgrad a signal was received for an unconscious tourist, found on Little Bear Peak. A team of mountain rescuers and a doctor, who were in the hut Macedonia, immediately went to the place.

Despite quickly reaching the victim with the help of a snowmobile at the hut, run by mountain rescuer Dimitar Gruychev, the doctor only found that the tourist (an elderly man) had died, probably from a heart attack.

A team of five rescuers from the “Bodrost” post contacted the Second Regional Police Department in Blagoevgrad, after which they went to the place with two snowmobiles to help their colleagues with transportation.

The action ended at 21:30.

PSS-Blagoevgrad informs that all actions have been coordinated with the directorate of Rila National Park. Ten mountain rescuers (seven from the detachment in Blagoevgrad and three from other detachments) took part in the action.

Mountain rescuers remind everyone passing through the upper lift station and the ridge to the hut “Macedonia” that the transition is long, there is no good winter markings and with reduced visibility there is a danger of getting lost and in a difficult situation. The transition through the ridge is only for well-prepared physically and alpine equipped tourists.
