A detachment of the Mountain Rescue Service (MSS) in Bansko conducted an operation late today in the lower part of Pirin, together with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Municipal Service for Order and Security. This was announced by PSS-Bansko on their official Facebook page.
The action was organized following a report that there was an abandoned bicycle on the rocks near the waterfall in the “St. Nicholas” area, and a motionless body could be seen at their foot. Upon reaching it, the rescuers found that it belonged to a man who had died.
The participants in the action managed to remove the body of the deceased man from the abyss, using climbing equipment and equipment.
His identity and cause of death are being established by the investigative authorities.
