“A friend in times of distress” is a saying relating to the sincerity of the relationship between friends and the need for a person to be with his friend in the bad times before the good ones. This is what 3 young people did with their friend who had cancer in Irbid, Northern Jordan.
An influential video clip widely circulated in Jordan where 3 young men shave their hair completely in solidarity with their colleague who has been diagnosed with cancer.
Solidarity without coordination
The young Jordanian, Zaid Al-Silawi, was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and has started taking doses of chemotherapy as the first step in long-term treatment.
Hairdresser Louay Al-Zoubi told Al-Arabiya Al-Jordan that his 20-year-old friend Yazid works in a “barbershop” in Irbid governorate, and when he started cutting his hair, he and two of his colleagues in the salon they brought a shaving machine and he started cutting his hair in solidarity with Yazid and so that he would not feel sad.
Al-Zoubi pointed out that his friend was diagnosed with the disease two months ago and they prevented them from supporting him without any coordination with each other or even with Yazid by cutting his hair amid the impressive feelings all the participants experienced.
Al-Zoubi hopes that Yazeed will continue to treat him in full force, so that he is a strong fighter against cancer, which requires a high morale and psyche.
