A total of 16 shorts were presented at the ’23 Mostra Cinema Jove d’Elx ‘held last Saturday – Elche City Council

A total of 16 shorts have been submitted to the ’23 Elche Youth Film Festival‘which was held on Saturday, May 15. The Councilor for Youth, Marga Antón, highlighted that “The objective of this initiative is to support young film directors and reward their creativity”.

On Friday 14 and Saturday 15 May the new edition of the ‘Mostra Cinema Jove’ was held. On Friday the shorts presented were screened, a total of 16 shorts made by people between 14 and 30 years old.

On Saturday the awards ceremony took place. The jury was chaired by the councilor for Youth and made up of: Leonor Díaz, production designer and art director; Chema García Ibarra, director, screenwriter and film producer; José Francisco Cámara, writer and vice president of the Luis Buñuel Cinema Club and Jaume Quiles, professor of the audiovisual communication area of ​​the UMH and film director. In addition, they were present Isabel Garrido, television actress, and Manu Hernández, actor and director from Elche of the ‘AM Elche’ and ‘Actores Madrid’ schools’.

The awards were given by Marga Antón, who thanked all the young people for their participation and especially the winners who she encouraged to continue with their work and continue to reap successes.

The winners were Julia Muñoz and Mariana Guzmán with the special mention of social values ​​and the best original script; Francisca Cifuentes with the best actress award; Inés Muñoz with the best direction; Estela Adrados and Marga Soler with the best short film directed by young people between 14 and 18 years old and Rubén Seca with the best short film directed by young people between 19 and 30 years old and the ‘Ciutat d’Elx’ award. The awards for best actor and best short film in Valencian have been deserted.

At the end of the gala, after the awards ceremony, the young award-winning directors held a debate where they shared their experiences, exchanged their concerns and their passion for art and creativity.
