A total of 13 people have been arrested in the so-called ‘Operation Requila’ carried out by the Organized Crime and Anti-drug Team of the Civil Guard Command of A Corua. The arrests have been made in the city of A Corua itself, as well as in the municipalities of Cambados, Vilanova de Arousa and Laln in Pontevedra for the commission of alleged crimes of drug trafficking and integration into a criminal organization.
As reported this Saturday by the Civil Guard, the investigations that were carried out in environments close to crime and, more specifically, in those dedicated to the commission of criminal acts by criminal organizations or groups, became aware of the existence of a network with a pyramidal structure that was dedicated to introducing on a regular basis, in the city of A Corua and neighboring towns, different batches of drugs, mainly cocaine, supplying them to different distributors who are in charge of their sale to final consumers.
This criminal organization worked with average security, carrying out a “change of carrier” only every five or six weeks, which “made police work difficult.” In fact, a total of five different carriers have been detected that were dedicated to introducing recurring consignments of cocaine in the city of A Corua. All of them have been arrested.
To carry out these transports, each one had a vehicle with sophisticated “coves”, hidden rooms in different parts of the car that allowed them to carry out these transports with greater security, all of these cars being intervened by the Civil Guard.
In addition, the Civil Guard points out that the criminal organization investigated, through one of its carriers, was taking cocaine to Switzerland. Thanks to the coordination between the Civil Guard and the Police of the Swiss country, two people were arrested and more than half a kilo of cocaine was seized, which was hidden in a cove of the vehicle in which they were traveling.
SUPPLIERS IN CAMBADOS AND VILANOVA
In addition, the progress of the investigation, directed by the Investigating Court number 7 of A Corua, made it possible to determine that the organization had two suppliers in the province of Pontevedra, one in the town of Cambados and the other in Vilanova de Arousa.
These circumstances led to the Civil Guard deploying a major operation on Tuesday, December 13, both in the city of A Corua, as well as in Vilanova and Cambados with a hundred agents involved to carry out 16 house searches.
The device resulted in the seizure of 4 kilos of cocaine, hashish, precision scales, presses, cutting substances, 42,000 euros and six vehicles used for the distribution of the drug with which they trafficked.
The detainees were placed at the disposal of the Court of First Instance and Instruction acting as guard in each locality, agreeing to imprison four of them.
