The Customs Surveillance Service has located a ton of cocaine in a container in the port of Barcelona from Uruguay.
The container had left Montevideo in May and had made five stops before reaching the Catalan capital. The drugs were hidden in two industrial boilers sent by a Uruguayan company owned by a foreign man.
The police operation was communicated to the Uruguayan authorities by the Spanish authorities last Tuesday, and it was made public this Thursday, after the country’s prosecutor’s office opened the investigation and communicated to the Uruguayan president, Luis Lacalle Pou, according to various Uruguayan media.
The seizure has been announced by the Minister of Economy of that country, Azucena Arbeleche, accompanied by the Ministers of Interior and Defense, Luis Alberto Heber and Javier García, respectively.
